R450 is an alpha 1 antagonist that acts to tighten the muscle tone in the bladder. It is being considered for treatment of stress-related urinary incontinence. Phase IIa data for the drug show it reduced the number of incontinent episodes compared to placebo with minimal cardiovascular effects.

Phase IIa data for the drug show it reduced the number of incontinent episodes compared to placebo with minimal cardiovascular effects. R450 is a selective alpha 1 adrenoreceptor antagonist. Research on the management of urinary incontinence suggests that it is most likely an antagonist at alpha-1B and alpha-1D, while it acts as an agonist on alpha-1a.
